The first official commissioned portrait bust of HM King Charles III
2025
Bronze on a sandstone plinth
In 2025, in celebration of The King’s Foundation’s 35th anniversary, the first portrait bust of HM King Charles III since his ascension, was commissioned.
I was selected to sculpt the portrait. I worked from my studio at Stag Works in Sheffield to sculpt the portrait in clay. It was then cast into bronze at Bronzecast Foundry in Ormskirk, UK. I worked with a letter cutter and current student on The King’s Foundation Building Craft Programme, Samuel Starsmore, who designed and carved the sandstone plinth.
The life-size portrait conveys a sense of thoughtfulness and contemplation. The King’s Foundation’s principles of harmony in nature and within the built environment, are reflected in the geometric flower of life pattern carved into the top of the plinth.
